Decarbonizing Data:  An integrated approach for US data center and cloud service providers

As the world consumes more and more data at an ever-faster rate, greater attention is falling on the environmental impact of our digital demands and the data centers that serve them. As a key enabler for the energy transition, the technology industry must reduce its environmental footprint to ensure that it does not become part of the very problem it is helping others to solve.

This is nowhere more apparent than in the US, home to more than 40% of the world’s data centers. With growing competition and more environmentally conscious tenants, data center operators must look for more sustainable ways to operate if they are to remain competitive in a more sustainable world.
