The Long Road Ahead to Ransomware Preparedness

The Long Road Ahead to Ransomware Preparedness

Ransomware threats remain a high priority for many organizations, but few are totally prepared for an attack. Without an industry blueprint for ransomware mitigation, many organizations build their own strategies and processes to respond. Although ransomware “protection” is included with many different security and data protection products, it can be confusing to understand the scope of what is included, who is responsible for the implementation, and who needs to be involved in the conversation.

ESG surveyed IT cybersecurity professionals to identify best practices and strategies of those who are prepared.

The results of the survey show:

  • Readiness is essential to ransomware mitigation, yet significant gaps exist for most.
  • While hybrid backup is common, recovery is not a guarantee.
  • Skill shortages and a dependence on internal resources for response posture put many at risk.
